Grants
from The SPE Foundation/Thermoforming Division are
available every year, funds permitting, to support
visits by the National Plastics Center & Museum
PlastiVan Program.
The
National Plastics Center & Museum PlastiVanprogram
is an internationally acclaimed educational program
geared for students in grades three through twelve.
The PlastiVans travel throughout the United States,
teaching students, educators, and the public about
the chemistry, history, processing and environmental
issues involved with plastics.
Six
different programs are available: Elementary Lab
(grades 3 - 5), Middle School Lab (grades 6 - 8),
High School Lab, Assembly Program for middle and
high school students as well as adult groups, Educator
Workshop (for teachers), and Corporate Training Days
(a day with the van at your facility).
PlastiVan programs are $1,500 per
day and are usually sponsored by local companies
for programs in their area. If you are interested
in sponsoring the van for the schools in your
town and need more information about the PlastiVan
program, call the Outreach Office at the National
Plastics Center and Museum at (978) 840-1950.
To be eligible for a $750 PlastiVan
Grant to offset the cost of bringing the van to
your area, your company:
- Must
be involved in the thermoforming industry (i.e.,
a thermoforming company, an extruder who provides
sheet to a thermoforming company, a mold making
company that provides molds to a thermoforming
company, etc.)
- Must
complete a Thermoforming
Division Matching Funds Grant form and submit
it to The SPE Foundation prior to the scheduled
visit.
If
you have questions about the Thermoforming Division
Matching Funds Grant for a PlastiVan visit, contact
Gail Bristol at The SPE Foundation via e-mail at foundation@4spe.org or
